Hey there!
My name is Taylor Foerster. I am a NYS certified Art Educator from Long Island, New York. I enjoy challenging myself in a variety of media in order to become a more well-rounded artist and teacher. In my own personal work, I tend to focus on 2D design, painting, and drawing. As a teacher, I have taught skills in art mediums ranging from drawing and painting, to clay, plaster, and found object sculpture, crafting with fibers and embroidery, mixed media collage, digital arts, graphic design, and more!
I have worked with a variety of youth across both Long Island and New York City schools. I’ve also assisted with art programs such as Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts in Wheatley Heights and The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum's Learning Through Art program in Manhattan. For five years during and following the completion of my Master’s degree, I taught visual art classes in Hempstead, NY having a great time creating and bonding with students in elementary, middle, and high school.
I believe that when students are exposed to the visual arts, they are able to develop extraordinary life skills that can be enhanced through creative decision-making, critical thinking, problem solving, patience, and determination. Students can express their individualism, collaborate with others, learn how to be persistent and thoughtful, and have meaningful, constructive conversations. I love to see each student's wonderful, unique interpretations of artistic concepts, lessons, and techniques.
